Here's the latest news from Iowa St. straight from Seth Bradley:
Jon and I are moving out within the next month, so our rooms in the Iowa St. house (the house with the ramp in the backyard AKA The Majestic Thrillseeker) need to be occupied. Erik Stevenson is holding down the fort and he's a clean and very pleasant roommate to live with. Rent is $243/month plus utilities (gas, water, electricity, and internets) which are usually $50-60 a person (rent is roughly $300 a month). The house is a few blocks off LSU's campus. Just hitup me or jon on tha 'space or doesn't hesitate to call me at 225-315-4226 if you have any questions.
Here's a pic of TJ Gills on the MTS, just in case you forgot what it looks like:
As you can see there's a flatland jam in Lake Charles in a few weeks. It's going down near the tranny walls by the waterfront. In other LC news, Dow Welsh was spotted in Baton Rouge last night. Good times for sure.
First of all, bike night at Buck Nutty's has been a lot of fun. It starts at 5 PM every Tuesday and it is only $5 to ride. Here is a picture of Jesus (by Tommy) going as fast as he can and doing a 180 from one bank to the other. I don't know if he pulled the rollback yet but it's worth $5 just to watch him go for it. Also, note that he's left foot forward and 180s to the left, so it's twice as cool.
Also, Jesus got an "LBS" tattoo. To all the n00bz out there, "LBS" stands for Lafayette BMX Society. So I guess he's down for life. Check that shit out.
Umm... I made a Lafayette BMX myspace and Hasslehoff made a New Orleans BMX myspace. Their respective links are http://myspace.com/lafayettebmx and http://myspace.com/neworleansbmx. Definitely check them out if you want to but we're not really adding people from out of town for the most part to keep the profiles from getting cluttered. They're kind of just a way for people from each city to post comments about sessions and stuff like that. We are also both working on getting more pictures of the spots we ride in our city.
I've been steadily working on the concrete bowl in Lafayette. We are moving forward still and it looks like it's going to be a little smaller than the most recent design I had posted. It will still be good though. We are hoping it will go out to bid sometime in August. The thing about building a concrete park is that only concrete park contractors can build it (and do a good job anyway) and since their are only a handful of concrete park contractors (that are COOL with bikes) in the country, they are always super busy which makes it just as hard to work out details with them as it is to get through the red tape of government. But like I said, we're still moving forward and I'm learning a lot in the process. Keep riding and be safe everyone.
Alright, every tuesday I'm going to start posting videos for you guys to watch. No I'm not posting any chill bro google links and what not. However, you can still enjoy these.
daniel dhers is a mad man. Check out his two runs in the BMX masters 07 (sickest 720 I've ever seen)
About a week ago, I went down to New Orleans to help Gabe Martinez build a ramp in his back yard. Here are some pictures....
Gabe Martinez: a man of many talents
It took us about three trips to Home Dept. to get everything.
Luckily for us, Gabe's little brother skates. He and his army of skate rats were more than willing to lend us a helping hand.
Gabe's baby brother wasn't afraid to put in work either...
I had to leave before it was completely done, but Cody, Brandon and I gave it a good working over earlier this week.
P.S.- A big thanks goes out to Gabe's parents for everything. Not only did they let us build a 6 ft. mini in their back yard, they also fed me the whole time I was down there. Thanks again guys!
I like riding New Orleans a whole lot. Andrew got hurt so we couldn't ride as much as we had planned but we had enough footage to make the video below. Check it out if you want to! NOLA 7/7-7/9
For you who did not make it down to New Orleans last weekend for one of the most entertaining and exciting BMX events to happen in our state, The Flatland Voo Doo Jam, I’ll let you know it was of the hook! As usual, Scott O and Terry Adams put on another incredible spectacle of BMX stuntage for a crowd of 200+ and I have the video I grabbed from the Ares America site to prove it. Peep it!
