"There are at least two openings at BREC BMX Track right now for cycle clerks. I believe the pay is around 7.29 an hour and it is pretty easy work. Please contact Jason Hoggart at 225-218-0918 or email jasonh@brec.org"
are we cool yet? danny isn't scared. he's going back to hungary next thursday so come be his friend before he leaves. in case you can't figure it out, it's a 360 while filming for the lafffy tafffy street skeet video.
In addition to carrying Icon, Derek Curry, the owner of Politics in Lafayette, got with Sparky's Distribution and is now carrying Mutiny, The Shadow Conspiracy, Sputnic, and Subrosa frames, parts, clothing, etc. and I believe he's thinking about hooking up with some other BMX distributors.
Also, Derek got an account with New Era and after waiting almost a year, has 5950 Politics hats in stock. He's only got red, white, and tan right now but he'll be getting blue on grey, white on white, and black on black in december so drop by the shop if you want to pick one up! http://sneakerpolitics.com
"FASTLANE SKATEPARK IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED the owner of the building told james that he won't re-new the lease to him,or anybody, unless they buy the whole building (which probably costs around $100,000) all the ramps have to be removed from the park. we will be needing a lot of help to do so.....so as soon as we come up with something,I will let everybody know. please keep james in your prayers,im sure he's gonna have a hard time dealing with this....I know I am. and I hope that our new orleans bmx scene will not deminish, but will thrive as we continue to ride street around the city. R.I.P. fastlane"
Hey everyone, I'm Will Sandifer and I'm gonna be updating the site out of Shreveport with all the news from the northern part of the state. I know I've always enjoyed riding in and around Baton Rouge and other parts of the south so now I hope to enlighten everyone a bit on what we have to offer up here. Later for now and Happy Halloween
That's Danny sporting the Icon shirt and me with Mike Spinner and some random girl, partying after the final night of Dew Tour in Orlando. Danny and I got to hang out a good bit and even ride the Vans park together.
Hope to see more of you guys in various parts of the country/world soon!
Oh yeah...if you haven't already seen them, I edited videos from the contest that I'm pretty happy with. - PARK - DIRT - VERT
If anyone would like to take over the ramp reconstruction give me a call at (225) 324-6638. I am tired of hassling people for money for the ramp- its taking the fun out of it. If nobody steps up in the next couple of days I'll just give everyone back the money they've put up. I don't care anymore.
Oh yeah, if you want to update Louisiana BMX give Fat Tony a shout. I quit that too.
Some of you may remember Chris Hunter from a few years back. He came to Baton Rouge to work at Maas Specialties a few years ago. His time in BR was relatively short but he made quite an impact. Chris was one of the people behind the quickcrete lip downtown, and he also organized a roadtrip to Houston with Jackson and BR locals which may be cited as the start of Savage South.
What does all this have to do with Louisiana BMX? Chris works for a company called Industry Nine, and for those of you who haven't heard of I9 here's a little insight. They make some of the craziest wheels you will ever see on a bike. They have made mountain bike hubs for quite some time now, but have stayed away from the BMX market. Not anymore. Chris just emailed me the specs on their Afterburner wheelset. Be prepared to drool.
Industry Nine Afterburner BMX set 32 hole Sunn Rhynolite or Velocity rim 1.75 7075 hubshell and spokes .110 dia 7068 cassette body (14 tooth wide body aluminum cog is as low a gear that can be run, no thin steel or ti cogs can be used) check out Endless Cog for gears. Colors of hubs are red and black, spoke color is your choice. Cassette has an instantaneous 6 degree engagement which is 120 points of contact on the drive mechanism when 6 paws are used, it can also be converted to three paw engagement, with these wheels you end up with a super light, extremely stiff wheel set. 3/8 bolts ( let us know if you need 14mm rear) Intended use is trails or race. MSRP $769.00
So Fruit of the Loom is working on a BMX team. Their first team member is Danny Josa. The picture below is going to be an ad in the next FHM.
Powerade is starting a BMX team too. Here is Derek Christ looking sexy for the camera. This is going to be an ad in Sports Illustrated except they're going to make him look like his sweat is purple before they submit the ad.
I started my own blog. It's ooti-billeaud.blogspot.com. I'm going to post videos and pictures mainly so check it out if you're interested.
ALSO! THERE IS RUMOR OF A BUCK NUTTY'S CONTEST AROUND THE END OF NOVEMBER OR THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER...
For those of you who like hitting up the contests here a doozy for you. Contest at Dirtwood in about a month. Start hitting up the foam pits cause there will be some big dogs at this one... or something like that.
There's not too much info on the Dirtwood site, I actually stole this from the FBM site.
The ramps have been torn up. All the shitty, rotten wood that people have been riding on for the last few months has been removed. Put up some money- you know who you are.
Just thought I would make a quick mention that the posters I was commissioned to create for Seawright Design commemorating the Icons of BMX, are now available on my site, www.iconvisuals.com. All the posters were illustrated and hand-screened by myself and would look awesome in your home.
Brock, Mickey, Louis, and Geoff have all been up in the Northeast riding trails and fighting. If you don’t believe me check out the FBM site for the proof.
