Hey guys, sorry it's been a while but I've been pretty busy as of late. Just checking in to give everyone out there a little update on the progress with this weekend's contest.
So the Nacho Ordinary Contest will be this Saturday, May 5th at the Iowa St. Ramps here in Baton Rouge. The ramps are looking really good- the entire section from the box jumps to the wall ride has been re-covered and is super solid and fast. We water-sealed the ramps yesterday and the plan is to paint them tomorrow so they will be nice and pretty for this weekend.
Prizes have been rolling in over the last few days too. BIG thanks to Props Visual and Albe's BMX mailorder. Those guys really came through on short notice so be sure to support those companies that support your local scene. Stuff is on the way from Sputnic and UGP which is pretty sweet. Also, the local shops here in Baton Rouge have been stepping up to the plate and we will have products from Capitol as well as Mid-City Bikes. Big thanks to those guys for lending a hand.
Word on the street is the St. Louis crew will be in attendance which should be a real treat for everyone. Also, Tony Malouf is heading down south for the contest with a few guys from the Great Lakes area. As always, the Savage South will be in full effect with Louis and Geoff making their way down from Jackson, MS. Speaking of Savage South, Louis throwing up $100 for the best trick contest. However, there are a few stipulations for entering which will be revealed the day of the contest. Another late addition to the lineup for the contest is the first annual Dirty Sanchez Moustache Contest.
Show up in Baton Rouge with your best 'stache and you will win the admiration of your peers and possibly some sweet prizes. We didn't name this thing Nacho Ordinary Contest for nothing- be prepared for anything.
We will also have a copy of the new [sic] Media video Nobody Special. I got to see the flick this past weekend and it's solid. Lots of good riding from folks you may or may not know. Alex Magallan and Nathan Williams are ANIMALS!!!
One thing we can't control is the weather so here's the latest: 30% chance of rain on Saturday with a slightly higher chance on Friday. It's still to early to predict the weather for this weekend so everyone keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer if that's your thing.
Also, I'd like to thanks those locals in Baton Rouge who came together over the last few weeks to get prepared for the contest. It's easy to just ride the ramp everyday but working together on a project that you funded with your own money takes some real work. Big thanks to TJ, Jon, Seth, and G-rad for throwing up some $$$ for the re-build and everyone else who put in some real time working on the ramp.
