2008 was pretty good but 2009 will be better. Here's to the new year. Everyone have a good one and be safe. Dont shoot yourself in the face with a firework.
I passed by later on today and they got more done. Scroll down a few posts to see the original post and to watch the music video to "juicy" by biggie smalls.
They laid out some of the coping. Righteous.
This is the drainage line.
Another angle.
They spraypainted sections of where the park is going to be I'm guessing?
In addition to the Savage South video and the Vegas holiday edit that were just posted, here's a video from Original Gypsy in Hungary from a contest over there. Danny got 2nd and apparently has flairs on lock along with 360 double whips. Will we see Mr. Josa Doooooood in the Dew Tour in '10?
So I went to Las Vegas for the holidays to see my family, ride some bikes, and escape louisiana shittyness. The trip was awesome and I saw alot of people I use to ride with and had a great time. Fat came and stayed with me and my family for a few days and we filmed some little stuff at the parks we rode on christmas eve and made a video. It's nothing crazy FYI, just us having fuuunnnnnnn.
They are finally breaking ground on the concrete park in Lafayette. I can't believe it is finally happening and I'm stoked beyond words. I've been directly working on this for 4 years this February and I've been calling the city and asking when we were gonna have a free park since I was in 6th grade. Fuck everyone that talked shit and said it would never happen, happen in 2040, etc. I am going to snake you forever.
Here are some pictures with the camera phone (because this post doesn't count without pictures right?) and a little video that I'm relating to right now. Also, I bought Biggie's album "ready to die" (the album with the song in the video) at blockbuster when I was like 10 randomly.
Here is the dustbowl in the background.
Here is the coolie in the background where the bowl is going to drain into.
This is the perimeter of something...
Straight sections of coping...
Curved sections of coping straight out of San Antonio, Texass.
Nano Roach sent it to me. It's way dope and the song is very obnoxious/awesome. I'm feeling the 360 tire grabs. Sorry I haven't posted much lately. Busy with school and work!
I could give a pretty good tutorial at that but instead, I'm going to to do a how-to paint a sweet ledge that just needed a little extra love to be a sweet ledge that grinds fast as shit too.
1. first you need supplies: a paint roller, pan, painters tape, and a gallon of oil-base high gloss exterior paint in any color your little heart desires. You can pick up this stuff at Home Depot for $35 like I did, or you could probably get it cheaper at Wal-Mart. The guy said oil based would be slicker so we got that, but make sure you get HIGH GLOSS so that ledge will be butter after it dries.
2. Find a ledge that you want to ride but isn't as dope as it could be if it were painted. tape it off so it doesnt run all over the place and look like crap. I left about 5 inches on top cause a peg is about 4 inches. some people like to grind on their dropouts and hubs, like me, so....5 inches:)
3. Paint inside the square you taped off. you need to do this about 3 times before the ledge is going to buttery and fast as shit. after it is done drying(the next day or two) go wax it up and do hot street moves like your name is Edwin Delarosa.
4. Repeat and do it to another ledge
(got to go back and do more coats ad tape off the bottom to this one)
5. Run away after cause you are in the HOOD in Nola and you are a skinny white dude without his bike with only a paint roller to defend yourself. take picture of random street art on the way back to your car.
If you and your friends split up the cost it isn't too painful on the wallet(like Brandon and I did) but it is still really cheap if you want to do it on your own. pick a sweet crazy color so it will look awesome when youre filming you and your friends shredding it. Now go paint and dont get caught!!
First and foremost, I'm 21 today which means I can go get a real ID and legally buy alcohol. Awesome.
I don't know about the rest of Louisiana, but between school, this cold rainy weather, and buck nutty's not having electricity, not much riding has been happening in Lafayette. Oh well, this isn't the north so things will pick up soon.
Last but not least, it snowed in Louisiana. AWESOME. With the snow, I decided to take the opportunity to do a little how-to. I present to you...
How To Build A Louisiana Snowman
Supplies Needed: Wet Louisiana Snow, Twig, Leaf That Looks Like A Smiley Face
1.) First of all, as soon as you see snow, throw some clothes on and get your ass outside because that snow is not going to be around for long.
2.) Forget all those movies where you've seen nice, big fluffy snowman. You don't have time for that shit, not to mention you live in Louisiana, therefore you probably don't have gloves and your hands are going to get cold as fuck handling that wet snow. You can expect your snowman to be 8 inches to 3 feet tall depending on how much snow you have. 3.) Now, start making a big ball of snow on the ground. Then make a medium sized ball of snow. Then Make a Small Ball of snow. You know what to do next.
4.) Break your twig into 3 pieces for the eyes and the nose. Add your smiley face leaf for the smiley face. It should be a frown because your snowman probably knows he's not going to be around for long, however, who wants to see a bummed out snowman? That'd be like a Santa Clause that steals toys.
5.) Ok, you're done. Take a picture and send it to any friends you have up north so they can laugh at you and your Louisiana snowman. Screw them though, because you just build a badass snowman.
so Jason St. Romain sent me a lil update of how he's is healing up:
"So it has been 3 weeks since the crash and things are healing pretty well. My hip to my knee isn't bruised any more, and my fractured wrist will be healed by next week. Unfortunately, my right shoulder is really messed up and I'm almost certain that ligaments, tendons and/or muscles or torn in it. Surprisingly, my shoulder was messed up during the first crash and not from hitting the rafter. If I had not slipped a pedal on my first run, I'd be about there within two weeks to try it again"
MAN OF STEEL!
Last night Thomas and I went and got tattoos from a skater on the westbank. Here are some picssssss Thomas couldnt help but cry. tattoos hurt
Doug Morrison has started up a blogspot to showcase what is happening in southern Mississippi with all the riders. He also started up a set of trails that, from the sound of it, only Doug will be able to jump. he is accepting all challenger(brock and mickey?!) come throw yourself over these big mamas. check out his blog at http://bmxorchestra.blogspot.com. should be pretty interesting and funny!
Mac just came out with the newer, greener, MacBooks and MacBook Pros. The people over there really know how to make some cool, expensive shit. check out a video about them HERE. Also check out this ad for them were someone is editing a BMX/MX video on the computer! Mac is down with BMX!! haha
So I won't be able to attend SS this year because I'm going back to Vegas to visit my family and OG bmx buddies. I'm soooo stoked and will make one last webvideo of my trip there because I have to give my brother, Colin, back his camera before I leave. Anyone got a cheapo camera for sale??? On another, more depressing note, my other brother, Brandon, has a tumor. You can check that out HERE. Have a great Sunday.
oh, and here's is a picture from the SWORD (myspace.com/thesword) show at One Eyed Jacks down in NOLA that a bunch of bike rider including, Ballard, Michael, Cody, Brandon, mid-city Steve, and myself attended. It was my first time seeing them and it wont be my last. it was sick.
also here is something cool i found today lurking around on myspace. dirty timmy made this camera handle out of old bike parts. i thought it was a pretty sweet idea so i guess im sharing it with you dudes. Jon and Brock, where you guys at?!
In case you haven't noticed at the top of the blog, Louisiana BMX got a little makeover. Since Louisiana BMX is now louisianabmx.blogspot.com, I had Mr. Caleb Everitt of ceveritt.com do a little revamp to include blogspot.com. I should have some shirts and stickers printed by around February and I have some other designs I may print besides the one at the top. Here's a picture of Caleb being awesome behind Chuy's in the ATX by Walter Pieringer. Fun Fact: Caleb told me Walter made him do this about 30 times because he kept getting weird reflections off the tin wall. He also said he slightly buzzed the rail a bunch of times. AWESOME.
It's that time of the year to really evaluate what matters most... (see pictures below).
Savage South is coming up! I will be stuck in winter school so I will not be able to attend but I highly encourage everyone to go. If you haven't been yet, it is quite the experience.
Speaking of Savage South, I was poking around their site and saw some pictures of the 7 ft. mini ramp in Baton Rouge that I'm assuming is finished by now.
here's an edit of a once-local BR ripper, Snotty. It always amazed me how he would come to the ramp with just shorts and sandles on and never saw him rip his toes off his feet. APE! jacked this shit from jons favorite site, thecomeup:)
I had heard about this but I wasn't able to ever get in touch with any of the guys doing it. I'm glad it's finally happening though. Check the link below for all the info and the story on it.
I feel as though it's becoming pretty apparent that BMX in Lafayette is > BMX in New Orleans. Just kidding, New Orleans has all the spots. Andrew, let's ride soon bud. :)
edit: here is their website ---> http://acadianabmx.com/
